Tranquil Soaking Experience at Crane Hot Springs, Oregon

Stayed here in the Wildflower Suite for a couple nights to explore the Steens Mountain area. The space is in the middle of open land with some mountains visible in the distance. You get wonderful views of the stars if you come on a clear night since this is a very unpopulated part of the state. You won't find food easily available in the immediate area. Be sure to bring your own or drive to find some. There is a community kitchen with simple appliances if you are not traveling in an RV. The hot springs were nice for early morning and late night soaks. There is the main pool, which is maybe 3-4 foot deep at its deepest and a separate small pool with hotter water. There are community showers, lockers, and picnic benches nearby. The hot spring area is very well maintained. Every time I was out there, the grounds team was constantly doing work on the pool or surrounding area. The suite was a nice room. The main perks are having a private restroom and having a large private back patio with soaking tub. I enjoyed the private tub as it had a nice view of the sky and was a little more quiet than the community pool. There are some things that can be improved. For some reason, you do not get free soap/shampoo in the rooms, but, if you ask at the desk, they will give you free soap/shampoo. I'm not sure why it isn't just provided. They also put the WiFi password on the parking hang tag - I'm not sure why it isn't in the room. The area by the suites is quite dark. There are some stairs, which aren't very visible at night and could be a trip hazard. The suite is quite spacious, but there is plenty of room for extra features. For the price of these suites, it would be nice to have a seating area, fridge, and/or kitchenette. These are all relatively minor notes, but there are simple things that could improve the experience. All in all, this is a great place to stay if you are in the Steens Mountain area and I doubt you will find better lodging unless you prefer rural camping.

We stayed in a teepee. Ours had a heated bed and space heater. So even though we stayed in late October we were very cozy at night! All the teepee have a private soaking tub!!! Definitively the stand out feature since it started raining one day and we hopped right in the tub to stay warm in cold October the rain. It's was the perfect "glamping" experience !

What a terrific find on my way east from the Oregon coast! I stayed in the RV section so didn’t rate rooms. But the pools, poolsides, and facilities are AWESOME and spotlessly clean. No mineral smell and no staining as I’ve experienced in some hot springs. The whole place far exceeded my expectations - the website photos don’t do it justice. Snacks and sundries were reasonably priced and the swimwear borrow bin is well- stocked.

Resort is easy to access, right off the main highway, so no special vehicle needs. Grounds are clean and well maintained. The hot spring pool is nearly magical! Even though it is human enhanced, it still has a more natural feel. On property is also wildlife sanctuary for birds. Lovely to walk the paths and geek out with the nature. Staff was friendly, even under high pressure of a long line of guests checking in. Recommend bringing food with you.

We love Crane. Definitely on our go-to list whenever we are in the area. The hot spring is very nice, we always enjoy it. Also fairly recently they opened a new changing building with heated floors - really terrific, especially when you are there in winter. Visited yesterday when it was 80 degrees out, and the hot spring was still really, really enjoyable. Highly recommend visiting any time of year.
