Itinerary

Start at the Sunrise Visitor Center parking lot.
Follow signs for Frozen Lake to begin the trail.
Continue through a mix of inclines and relatively flat terrains.
Take a break at Frozen Lake, a good midway point.
Proceed to the final incline leading to the Mount Fremont Fire Lookout.
Enjoy the views and explore the lookout area.
Retrace your steps back to the parking lot.

Such a beautiful hike. We did a 7 mile loop, but there are father and shorter hikes. There are several picnic areas, a gift shops and a cafe'. There are multiple hiking guides out on the trail as well who were very knowledgeable and helped provide the safest instructions on where to hike, distance, and moderation. We had a wonderful experience that will not soon be forgotten. The views were amazing and we both loved every moment of our trip. Highly recommend!!!

Easy hike, great for beginners and for those new to Mount Rainier trails. It's about 2.5 miles from the parking lot to the lookout, but the elevation is very reasonable so it only took me an hour each way. Honestly, if you have a kid that's over the age of 10, they can totally handle it. The variety of scenery and the viewpoint makes this a stunning trail, especially if you go at sunrise or sunset. There's lots of marmots and goats to be seen, a great look at the mountaintop, a glacier lake, and awesome views of the valley and surrounding area. Be aware that it gets very windy and cold at the top, and on overcast days you will probably be hiking through some clouds!! It's also a good idea to bring a flashlight or headlamp if you're going near dawn/dusk.

Incredible quick hike with stunning views and vistas. Well traveled yet not without slight sketchy parts toward top. I recommend to go all the way to the top! it’s one of best hikes in the national park 😊

Absolutely gorgeous hike with stunning views every step of the way! The scenery was breathtaking from start to finish, one of those trails where you want to stop and take it all in every few minutes. The incline was gradual and totally manageable, making it enjoyable without being too challenging. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a rewarding and peaceful outdoor experience! 5.6 miles, 900ft elevation gain, out & back

Moderate out and back trail with gorgeous views of Mount Rainier We went early August and hiked in the late morning. There were plenty of others on the trail but there are no restrooms or water stop. There’s some elevation change but there were plenty of kids hiking as well as volunteer rangers. There’s some rocks to walk over but pretty straightforward trail. I would bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen given you’re pretty high up. Bonus tip: Rainier seems to get cloudy midday in late July and August so recommend you hike in the morning or late afternoon to get better views. Also. The Skyline trail in Paradise has better views of the meadows with wildflowers in peak bloom if you’d like a different view.
