Scenic Hiawatha Trail Mountain Bike and Hike

We rode the trail twice within 3 weeks. Our first time was on a Tuesday in August. The next time was a Saturday in September (Last weekend of the season). Both times the ride was really awesome. First ride had 5 couples. Parking was easy. After unloading we made our way to get passes. This was a bit hectic as there was a line for this. Could have been better if they had a few more people working passes OR one line for just passes and on for rentals/passes. But this wasn't a huge problem. We headed to the Taft Tunnel, which is over 8700 feet long. One of the guides helped us get a group picture in front of the tunnel. All of the guides and help were really great and friendly. We took our time to stop and read all of the signs about the trail. It was really a great time. The second ride was last minute. It was the last weekend for the season. This was a bit more crowded in the parking lot but the trial itself didn't feel overly crowded. Tis ride was with 4 couples. The main backup this time was at the bottom (Pearson Trailhead). There was a huge line for the shuttle to take riders back to the top of the hill. We were planning on riding back so it didn't affect us. One cool thing; while resting at the bottom one of the guides actually recognized me from our first trip. This was amazing considering all of the people that go thru on the trail. But he stopped and talked with us for a bit. This trail is a really fun family friendly trail to ride. Well organized with awesome staff. We will be riding this again in the future.

What a wonderful trail! We were in Idaho for vacation from Canada and this was on our bucket list. We got there first thing in the morning and were one of the first groups to ride the trail. We took our 9 year old daughter on her own bike and our toddler in the trailer/bike seat. The trail is mostly downhill and fairly easy to complete. Tunnels are so fricken cool and the views are stunning. Bus crews at the bottom were super friendly. It was the greatest, muddiest time ever!

Beautiful every time! A lovely time whether you ride with adults or with children ( although the long dark tunnels are not very friendly to littles). Scenery is gorgeous, we saw moose, dear, bear and a horde of chipmunks. Highly recommend.

What a fun experience! My sister had this on her bucket list so to celebrate her 75th we all made reservations. We were happy to learn they had trikes available for those not used to riding bikes. Our youngest on the trip was 8 and the oldest was 75 and we all loved the experience. Thinks to know: You start at a long, cold, wet and muddy tunnel. If you don’t ride fast you will not get muddy but if you are a fast rider you will have a muddy back! We brought rain ponchos for the tunnel. They give you lights for the tunnels. The ride is mostly down hill so not physically difficult. You ride to the bottom then they load the bikes into a trailer and the people onto a bus and take you back to the first tunnel… you then ride back though. At the bottom they sell food. It is likely you will get the bottom at the same time as everyone else so be prepared to wait awhile to load the bus back up. Don’t forget to stop and enjoy the views!

This is a fun family biking trail with some beautiful views and cool features. The tunnels and trestles are fun. The first tunnel that is 1.5 miles long was cool but it is pretty muddy. Had full suspension bikes mud was a little hard to wash off. We rode up and down trail. If you ride a bit it is not too bad. Shuttle is available if you don't want to pedal up. Fun trail.
