Alila Ventana Big Sur Pool and Spa Daycation

This hotel was an incredible experience for my husband and I over the four days we stayed! Not only is the property beautiful, but the staff is kind and attentive. As a couple who travels with pets often, the service is unmatched for your dogs. Ours absolutely loved it here, and the accomodations for pets are next level! This stay was spacious, calming, and secluded, and felt like a real treat every moment. We also have to highlight the restaurant, in particular our host Juan. He was delightful and provided excellent recommendations, while guiding us through the culinary experience that reflected Big Sur. The beef tenderloin and hikers lunches were to die for. We were able to take advantage of the spa as well, and the entire experience was peaceful and meditative for us both. We can't wait to come back!

Due to a highway closure, the resort was temporarily closed for a window a time. We were/are one of those impacted by that window. While I completely understand that this was totally out of their control, this review is centered around the handling of the situation for those who have to rebook. When initially booking our stay an entire year ago, the greeting and little touches they gave during our conversation impressed me and I had a good feeling about the level of service we would receive. That was not the case when faced with this situation. We were given no email, call, text at all about the reservation being impacted. We just happened to be chatting with a friend about an upcoming vacation we had, when we suddenly noticed a banner on their website showing some sort of closure and we were like "Oh wait is that impacting our stay?". The vacation was to celebrate our wedding/engagement, and after calling the resort, we explained how a lot of arrangements had already been made for this trip. In the end, we were forced to cancel the reservation with the ask to rebook it in the future. Which sure, it's fine. At least we got refunded. But just hearing over and over again on the phone that "we're really sorry about this yea", I guess I expected a bit higher level of service, like some type of small gesture or compensation during our future stay with them. But no, just the same statement over and over again. The situation sucks for both parties, but man I wish they made it suck less for us.

Amazing views. Beautiful rooms. Excellent service. The staff here is absolutely fantastic. Couldn't have been a better stay. Loved the bee class and the mixed drinks class. Great place to stay and tons of stuff to do without ever leaving the property. Very romantic.

My wife and I stayed for a few days after banking up some credit card points and loved every moment. 1. The Service: they are very attentive to catering to you and scarcely miss a beat. Just all the little touches that make you feel like royalty here. They provide a shuttle service that will take you anywhere on the property & hardly had any wait. 2. The Food: The Sur House is the primary restaurant for breakfast, lunch & dinner. We loved the options and they give you huge plates. The in room dining was also great but we preferred to make the trip down to the restaurant. 3. The Room: the rooms were spacious, beautiful and very comfortable. Loved to relax at our fireplace or lounge on the patio hammock when the weather was sunny. Very rustic but luxurious. 4. The Views: breathtaking views of the coast/redwoods. Was accessible but feels very quiet & isolated. 10/10 experience and would for sure come again.

We LOVED our stay here!!! The service is incredible and they make everything SO easy. The food is great and we loved the .3m walk through the redwoods to and from the restaurant. The spa is great. The rooms are great. We did a wonderful 2 hour hike right from the property. We had the best long weekend getaway.
