Love the hike. Kid and dog friendly. Really enjoy swimming even tho the water was freezing. It get SUPER packed during the weekend. Just make sure to take your garbage back with you.

It takes about 30-40 min to get to the bottom of the fall but I strongly recommend to do so instead of just looking at the falls from the viewing platform. Majority of the trail is not difficult, then when you get to the falls there is a set of very steep stairs than suddenly spans from near the top of the fall down to the bottom within a very short distance. There is a platform in the middle of the fall that you can get to. You can also get to the very bottom and walk across the stones in the middle of the stream to take good photos from any angle.

It's a beautiful hike down to the lower falls. They have a parking closer to the deck but We started our hike from the rail trail which is an additional 1.5 mile hike. It's a old rail road i assume. It's flat and an easy hike. The lower falls trail is a little steep at the end. When we went the ice was still there and the steps were slippery making it a little risky but when you reach the bottom it's all worth it. It's beautiful down at the falls. Restrooms are at the parking lot only and many people did walk the dogs to the bottom. Only thing missing was a picnic area.

The best parking is off North shore road to Laurel House Road. Beautiful falls. Very steep 181 stone stairs to lower falls. Wear good shoes. The route we took was the rail trail from the historical society parking. Gorgeous in the fall.

One of my favorite places in Upstate New York. My husband proposed to me there. Captivating views at any time of the year, and yes, in winter too. The waterfall consists of two stages, 231 feet high, made of stone stairs to safely climb to the very top. But if you like extreme sports, then there are places where you can test your sports training and climb straight up real rocks. In summer, you can swim at the lower levels of the waterfall. Spend time in nature, admire the beautiful view, enjoy the sound of the waterfall and nature.
