Luxury Cave Glamping at The Summit at Big Bend

This place was wonderful! Very beautiful and secluded! The bathrooms are detached from the domes, but they were very clean and very nice! It had everything we needed and was very cozy! We enjoyed the view, the sunrise over the mountains, and the clear night sky. We camped at the Chisos Basin in Big Bend and finished the trip staying at the Summit! It was the perfect way to end the trip.

We stayed one night in a star gazing dome and it did not disappoint! The stars were amazing that night. The bed was extremely comfortable, AC worked well, plenty of electrical outlets. Everything was cozy and nice. One fair warning for visitors. We rode motorcycles there. The long road leading up was decent until it came a light rain. When we returned after supper part of the road was so slick we dropped our bikes a few times. So just keep that in mind if traveling by bikes.

We just got back from spending 3 nights with our 2 small children. We absolutely loved the dome and had a blast! The bathhouse was very clean and nice. The kids loved taking showers outside rather than using the indoor ones. I emailed several questions before our trips and each time got a very helpful and kind response quickly even though it late at night. The only thing that would make these better if there was more shelving space or storage. Definitely will recommend to everyone!

Got to admit The Summit is great place. As one person said "Clamping at its best". Clean restrooms and showers. The bed was super comfy, and there were so many stars to see. One thought, though, is there is a little bit of a smell of plastic or vinyl inside the dome. Not a problem for us and probably most, but if you are sensitive to these type of chemical smells it could be a problem. I did not see any way to vent the dome, other than to leave the door open. I could not help noticing Dome #25 would probably not pass electrical inspection in most municipalities. Please see the attached pictures. The flexible non metallic conduit had come loose from one of the boxes. Hopefully, the NM cable in the conduit doesn't run underground to the CB panel outside, because that would be a no-no. Another box had several open holes that little fingers could find their way into. Finally, there wasn't any CFGI protection which probably should be installed given a sink and concrete floor. None the less we enjoyed our time at The Summit.

Booked a stargazing dome for a couple nights during our Big Bend trip and this place was AMAZING! Obviously the setting speaks for itself with stunning desert/Big Bend and stargazing views. The domes were clean and stylish. The bed/bedding was super comfortable. Bathrooms are communal but clean, with running water, and located close enough to domes that it isn't a trek outside. Having a sink and fridge in the dome was convenient and the AC worked great! We wished we had stayed at the Summit for our entire time at Big Bend :)
