We brought our homeschool nature group here for a field trip today, and it was such an incredibly special experience! The preserve is absolutely gorgeous, with so much to see and learn. Our guide was phenomenal! He had a highly engaging way of sharing his extensive knowledge across a range of subjects, including geology, wildlife, botany, and the history of the preserve. He kept everyone interested, from preschoolers to teenagers and adults, and left us all wanting to learn more. I can’t wait to come back and go on the other tours they offer. I highly recommend visiting for anyone looking for a unique nature adventure in the Texas Hill Country.

A hidden gem and easily one of the most underrated spots in Austin. It surprisingly doesn’t show up on "best of" search results, but finding it by accident was a fantastic surprise. Highly recommended if you’re looking to escape the typical tourist crowds and try something truly high-quality.

Along a nature hike and tour at Westcave that is a federally protected nature preserve with a canyon waterfall, wet grotto, and savannah trails. The guides were fantastic and it was an educational and scenic experience.

Visiting Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center was a real treat. As a photographer, I especially appreciated how the preserved trails, shaded grottos, and cave openings lend themselves to ethereal, intimate imagery. The guided hike down to the waterhole feels like stepping into a hidden world—a mossy grotto, filtered light through lush foliage, and a quiet cave tucked into rock-face, all without the hustle and bustle of a typical venue. What makes Westcave stand out is how carefully the environment is maintained, no swimming allowed, which preserves the natural integrity of the place, and the tours are thoughtfully paced so you feel part of the scenery, not just passing through. It’s perfect for couples who want a wedding surrounded by authenticity and nature’s subtle drama. If you’re seeking a setting that elevates your photos and grounds your wedding in natural beauty, Westcave is absolutely worth considering.
