Experience Luxury Glamping at Onera

From start to finish, our stay at the Walnut House at Onera Fredericksburg was nothing short of perfect. Location is great, close to town. Bed was comfy. The temperature inside the unit was just right the entire time, which made it even easier to relax and unwind. The property itself is peaceful. Exceptional property manager. They were kind, responsive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. We also booked a massage during our stay, and it was fantastic — truly one of the best we’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, the Walnut House is the place to be. Can’t wait to come back!

While I think this could be a very nice place, it is very, very overpriced. We paid over $1200 for 2 nights in a very small room in the newer area "lodge". Our friends stayed in a couple of the separate cabins and theirs were $2000 for the weekend! There was no ice, the hot tubs in both of our friends' cabins were not working, there is not daily cleaning service, pools are very small and the older one was dirty. We just were not impressed for the price. I expect VERY high end for this kind of money. And way more space in the room and cabins. Unless price goes down drastically, we won't be back. There are plenty of other, much nicer places to stay that are WAY cheaper.

Onera in Fredericksburg is such a beautiful concept—peaceful, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The check-in was completely contactless and seamless, which made arrival super easy. The property itself felt like the perfect escape into nature with a luxury touch. There were just a few things that took away from the full experience. The bed sheets had some stains, and the bathroom floor and windows weren’t as clean as expected. The hot tub was also stuck at 105 and couldn’t be adjusted, which made it a bit too hot to fully enjoy. Lastly, some of the side doors required codes that weren’t provided, so I had to rely on the main entrance for access. All that said, the place has a ton of potential and I’d love to return once a few of those details are fine-tuned. With just a little more attention to cleanliness and guest access, it could easily be a 10/10 stay.

Super cute place! No interaction with staff which was fine. We met friends out there for a night/day and we had a bunch of little kids between us all. They loved the pool of course - but I get the sense it's geared more towards couples. I bet it is pretty romantic.... Each unit has a tiny hot tub and feels quite private for being so close to each other. Neat design, comfy beds and pillows, kitchenette was stocked with coffee and tea, brita pitcher, luxurious towels provided, and it was just so nice to get out of the city for a bit! Logistically: GPS took us to a gate but that's not how you get in - maybe this was in the booking details but our friends did all that - even though the Onera sign is by the gate, not by the actual entrance/road to the cabins. Another car in front of us was also confused 🤔 I saw one EV charging station/plug. Can't give 5 stars because: Our unit had a large spider web at the top of the front door, and yes it's the country but one of the threads went down to one of the lounging chairs on the porch. Impressive spider but idk how long it takes for a web that large to form so I guess I can't judge housekeeping for that??? Tip for the microwave - after heating you have to push the cancel/end option or the door won't open when you push the door open button, it stays locked and might actually keep heating so just watch it. The bedside lights are super bright and white, so not the best mood lighting, but hey maybe they *want* you to turn em off 😅 to look at the stars...ha With so many windows and not as many curtains, they're kind enough to provide sleeping eye masks on each night stand - but the elastic was *very* tight and I have a small head for an adult. I definitely couldn't wear it let alone sleep with it, but maybe other people don't mind that. Next time I'll bring my own eyemask. I do hope my partner and I can return for a romantic getaway sometime. 90 mins from Austin was a breeze and it's really a lovely space.

This place was dreamy. Weekday prices were better. Pool and warm tub were super nice. Our tiny house definitely showed signs of extended use but didn't really ruin the vibe. We had one maintenance issue that stsff responded for immediately. Would definitely recommend to others. Only wish was a communal ice machine...turns out Texas is hot.
