Travel in time at Hearst Castle

We did the grand rooms tour and would highly recommend it. We had the sweetest couple guide our tour. So fun and knowledgeable and we appreciated that they keep us moving and on time. With each stop we had plenty of time to take pictures and ask any questions. Made us want to go back to see more rooms. We are both big people so was kind of worried about how much walking and stairs there were, but that ended up not being a problem. There was enough stops and such that we were good to go. Definitely worth the price and would highly recommend. We had a lighthouse tour earlier in the day and didn’t know how long that would go so didn’t purchase tickets in advance. With it being September and on a weekday we didn’t have any problems getting tickets same day.

Finally fulfilled a childhood dream of mine and I was not disappointed! You do board a bus that will take you up to the mansion as you listen to Alex Trebek narrate. My husband and I went on our anniversary and the crowds and weather was just right. You truly do feel like you've traveled back to golden Hollywood. I think my favorite parts were the gardens and pools. You will be taking LOTS of pictures. We took the Grand Room tour which is recommended for first timers. If you love history and old Hollywood, you won't be disappointed.

A Masterpiece of Art and Architecture! Hearst Castle is truly a marvel, and our tour led by Michelle was exceptional! She shared so many fascinating details about the history of the castle and its incredible architecture. A special thank you to Mr. Hearst for his vision in creating this masterpiece. The collection of antiques he gathered from around the world is simply breathtaking and adds so much richness to every room and corner of the estate. The blend of cultures and historical pieces, combined with the stunning architecture, makes this place unlike any other. It’s a must-see destination in San Simeon, and I highly recommend the tour to anyone visiting the area!

Went on the bedroom tour. Our guide was amazing a plethora of knowledge of castle and area. He answered every question that was asked. There are a number of stairs, so be mindful of this. It's not difficult, but if you have knee issues, it may be a bit harder for you.

Really fun tours! Each tour is bought separately, and you get bussed to and from a visitor center for each one. They have an ADA tour option, but be prepared to walk a fair amount otherwise. The Grand Rooms tour is a good first tour, and we really enjoyed the Kitchens & Cottages tour as a second option. The restaurant onsite it a little pricey but also really good. You can make a whole day here, or do one tour and spend about 2.5-3 hours.
