Guided New River Gorge Bridge Catwalk Tour

Amazing experience! My 83 year old father and I did the bridge walk this past week. Bob, our tour guide, was amazing. We had a small tour group, and were given great information about the area and bridge. My father is a little unsteady sometimes, but able to walk up to 2 miles and he did great. The meeting point is close to the Canyon Rim Visitor's Center. They have phone holder's for $6 in the gift shop and you can also take cameras, but NO backpacks or drinks. You take a short shuttle to the Canyon Rim Visitor's Center and then walk down a pretty steep hill to the entrance under the bridge. Our tour took about two hours and you stop frequently so that your guide can provide information. Bob also took a picture of the group at the middle of the bridge and took a video which he shared with everyone. He also offered to take pictures for people multiple times. At the end of the walk there was another shuttle waiting to take us back across the bridge and they provided us with a bottle of water, which was very nice.

We did the NRG Bridge Walk on Friday 6/13 and it was awesome! Our tour guide Larry did a fabulous job telling us all the interesting and insightful things about the bridge. We had a few in our group that were nervous/afraid of heights and he was awesome in encouraging them the whole time. The views were awesome and it was a great experience for my daughter and I. Would highly recommend!

We are so happy to know that the New River Gorge is a National Park now. Everything went smooth, and Larry was great! (Our tour guide) He made the trip so much more fun and loved hearing the history of the bridge and West Virginia in general. Thank you for having us!

My husband and I completed this experience on Saturday morning at 11, and the weather was absolutely perfect. Our guide and driver were both very friendly and professional, which helped ease any nerves we had going in. That said, a word of caution: if you’re even slightly afraid of heights or prone to motion sickness, this may not be the activity for you. You can feel the vibrations from the overhead cars the entire time you’re walking, which adds to the thrill—but also the anxiety. The views from the top were truly unlike anything else we saw while hiking in the area. It’s a unique perspective and definitely a bucket-list kind of experience. Overall, it was absolutely worth it, but it was more of a thrill-seeking adventure than I expected.

Great time on the walk. Had a mix of kids to adults. Crazy how much of the road traffic vibration you feel on the walk. We lucked out with some fog coming around the bridge which made to a little surreal at some points. We also had sun and a unique experience of it raining on one side of the bridge but not the other. Would definitely go back in a few years.
