My fiancée and I had a lovely morning here. We wanted a long relaxing experience so we booked the longest package available that included a 1hr tub soak, 90min massage, and 30 in a shavasana room. Outstanding on all levels! Staff is friendly, the soak retreat is quiet and private, We also got Japanese tea with our service and it was delicious. The masseuses were clearly experienced and good at adjusting to our needs and comfort level. The shavasana room was a perfect cherry on top. We will definitely be returning. We hope to see more services added in the future, it was an amazing retreat and we got to kick off our vacation very relaxed.

My spouse and I recently did the DUO Special (private outdoor saltwater tub, sauna) + couples massages at Soji Spa and it was easily one of the best spa experiences we’ve ever had! The booking process was seamless—we were able to get in the same day, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The entire visit felt perfectly organized and never rushed. The location itself is beautiful; our private hot tub had excellent jets and the soak was deeply relaxing. We loved the cedar sauna and the variety of refreshments available (the coconut water was great, and they also have tea, juices, and even wine/chocolate packages). The whole atmosphere felt so peaceful, serene, and spotlessly clean. After a nice 15-minute transition to refresh, we moved into our massages. As someone who deals with tightness from a desk job and soreness from recent hikes, this was exactly what I needed. The therapists were so thoughtful, asking about our pressure preferences and focus areas to truly customize the session. Kendall performed my massage, and her hands were magical—I left feeling lighter and completely relaxed. Being able to shower afterward and leave feeling clean and rejuvenated was the perfect finishing touch. 10/10 experience; we will absolutely be back next time we’re in Asheville!

We visited for my husband’s birthday and had an incredible experience from start to finish. The level of service was exceptional, and the friendly, welcoming staff made the day truly memorable. Sarah was an absolute pleasure and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. My massage therapist was amazing—one of the best massages I’ve ever had. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend!

Staff was welcoming and showed great care to answer all of our question about our soak! We greatly enjoyed that our private bath area was clean and inviting. For the bath itself, (I was told) it utilized a salt water system. Either way, there was no “chemical” smell that can be associated with hot tubes and left out skin smooth and soft. I would highly recommend Shoji for those looking for a place to relax and or relieve muscle aches after hiking all day!

Great experience until checkout... My daughter treated me to a Mother's Day gift at Shoji Spa and purchased the Nihon Spa Package for two with a $480 gift certificate. She specifically chose this package because Shoji had advertised on Instagram that it now includes a complimentary beverage of your choice. Overall, the experience itself was wonderful. The massages were truly the best either of us has ever had, and the private hot tub experience was peaceful and relaxing. The only disappointment during the spa portion was the "cold plunge," which turned out to be a shower house with water that was warm to hot rather than cold. Even so, that was just a minor hiccup, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together. Unfortunately, things changed at checkout. At check-in, we were asked which beverage we wanted and chose Prosecco, which had been featured in the Instagram promotion. We were then asked which chocolate bar we wanted and selected the salted caramel bar. Since we were simply asked to choose, we naturally assumed both items were included with the package. No one mentioned there would be an additional charge. When I checked out, I was told my balance was $39. When I asked what it was for, I was told it was for the drinks and chocolate. Since my daughter had made the reservation and paid for the package, I wasn't aware that the beverage was supposed to be included and simply paid the bill. I later learned that the complimentary beverage had, in fact, been part of the package. Beyond that, I feel it's poor customer service to offer guests choices without explaining that some options carry an additional charge. I was also interested in purchasing a Father's Day package for my husband while I was checking out, but the employee told me he couldn't make reservations and that I would have to call instead. I was surprised that they would not accept cash payment and required me to use a card, which I found somewhat off-putting. Shoji provides a beautiful setting and exceptional massage therapists, which is why this review is so disappointing to write. A premium experience should include premium customer service, clear communication, and transparency. A little more attention to those details would have made this a five-star experience.
