Utah Crater Hot Spring Soak & Dive: Heber Valley's Thermal Wonder

So cool!!! Our party of 8 thoroughly enjoyed this experience. 40min was plenty of time. We just did swimming this time, but would love to come back and scuba. Very friendly service. Easy to find, good parking... parking lot is a bit tore up so go slow. Make sure to visit the bridge around back and go up stairs to the top for magnificent views!

This was just an amazing experience. My girlfriend and I dived here and it was unlike any other dive we've done. We brought only our masks (for comfort). They have everything you need to dive, all you need is to bring your cert. Your 1 hour time block is just the perfect amount of time, since you'll be able to see everything in the hole, chill for a bit, and come back with some air left in your tank. There's not a lot to see down there - it's an empty crater with no wildlife. John was great to work with and got us all set up and briefed for the dive. We asked for permission to take some photos, and were allowed to. They have an easy entry area where you can stand in the water to gear up. You're not supposed to go deeper than 35 feet to prevent silting, and there really isn't anything to see down that deep, since it gets dark and silty. The water felt amazing. No need for a wetsuit - we measured it at 94°F. If you're just here to swim, I could see how it would be a far more tepid experience. There's not a lot of room on the surface, so you just kind of float there. It wasn't very crowded when we visited. Maybe 10 swimmers and 6 divers total. They have 4 changing rooms and you can stash your gear along the sides of the entryway. Parking was easy, as we were able to park about 50 yards from the crater entrance.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. This hot springs experience was different. You can dive at this location and you basically swim/ float at this location. Which is situated in a cavern that has a short tunnel to get you to this hot springs. It was worth the money and time, although 1 hour was plenty of time! One highlight of this experience was meeting a friendly fellow traveler that gave us some great tips for the rest of our trip, as well as a great conversation!

Very cool spot to go swiming in the winter! Temp is 90 degree F all year long. There is an entry fee if you want to swim but no cost to just look around. Folks go here to do scuba lessons as it is over 60ft deep.

We had a great time visiting the Homestead Crater. The water was so warm and a beautiful blue color. Kitty was extremely friendly and explained the history of the crater and how the walls were formed. It is a very unique experience and definitely worth the admission fee. The rules for entering and swimming in the crater are very clear and provided in advance, so there are no surprises. They want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable visit. If you are in the area, don’t miss this hidden gem!
