Utah Crater Hot Spring Soak & Dive: Heber Valley's Thermal Wonder

Visited the Homestead resort pools mid week in late Sept. Beautiful sunny day, heated pools, no one there but us. Costly yes ($75 pp) but priceless experience! Multiple heated outdoor pools to choose from and open year round. Changing rooms with showers provided, pool side restaurant and bar also close by. Planning to try the Crater swim experience next time!

The Homestead Crater in Midway, Utah is one of those places that’s genuinely unique whether you *love* it or just think it’s “cool to try once”. First off, the setting is incredible. You’re swimming inside a 55-foot-tall limestone dome formed over thousands of years, with sunlight streaming through a hole at the top. The water stays warm year-round making it comfortable. It’s a pretty surreal experience—there aren’t many places where you can float in a natural geothermal spring inside a cave-like structure. That said, the experience itself is pretty simple. Once you’re in, you float, relax, or slowly swim around. Life jackets are required, and there’s no jumping, diving (unless booked separately), or exploring much underwater. Amenities are also pretty minimal. The changing areas are small, and it’s best to come prepared (wear your swimsuit, bring your own towel, and don’t expect luxury facilities). Overall The Homestead Crater is absolutely worth visiting at least once for the uniqueness alone. It is very relaxing.

The crater was super cool. The water is warm and blue, so clear and clean. They let you in exactly at the time of your reservation, when you enter, there are lockers that you can use to leave your belongins, these are free. You can also grab a life jacket which are also free or included with your reservation. I recomend grabbing one because you can enjoy and relax in the water better without too much effort. You can also rent a snorkle mask, which I also recomend, because you can see the bottom of the crater. Then all you have to do is relax and enjoy the water. Before the hour, they are going to let you know when is time to go out to let the next turn swim. They also have scuba diving equipment if you want to do that as well. It's a good activity to do with kids.

A natural crater with some adjustmenta from mankind. Crater discovered in 1800s and used by some cowboys and Native Americans in the past. Refilled by underground spring water that continually flows. There is a drainage hole that ensures levels never go above certain levels. Went in May and they had a heater on inside the crater. Water felt warm and not overbearing. They made sire we all wore provided life jackets. They had snorkel equipment for rent. Scuba training at same time we were swimming in crater. It was enough room for all of us. They sell a limited amount of tickets per 1 hour session. Overall, a great, once in a lifetime experience.

Excellent time It would be nice if they had better signage as to where to park. Also, if they had some type of cover or benches to sit on when you were outside waiting. The experience was fantastic. Play on a jet plane don’t know when I’ll be back again on a jet plane.
