Scenic Railroad Journey Through Royal Gorge

Had an amazing time on the train. Great staff and great views. Hubie the guest liaison was very informative and eager to share information. Scott our server was amazing and provided great and hasty service that made the ride extra enjoyable. We spent most the time out on the open air car enjoying the views. We did our trip in July so it was warm but you can pop back inside to cool off in the ac. Dress for temp in canyon city and should be good but bring hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

The train was a fun tourist experience. Our two waitstaff, Stephanie and Lenny(?) were kind and knowledgeable. The train is nicely restored and the open air cart is really the draw. This is a great trip for folks that like trains or an alternative way to experience the gorge not on a raft. The tickets could probably be half the price, but it sounds like the price of fuel has really driven up the cost. Overall, a good one time splurge if you are in the area.

We thought it was pretty great. The train traveled at a pretty slow pace. I expected it would be cruising up around 60 mph, but it was probably only going 15 mph, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the scenery. The 2 hours went by fast. The food service was excellent, but there were not many vegetarian options and what was available was not particularly elevated. The glass domed car was cool. The clear dome did not extend overhead. The glass could have been cleaner, but it was clean enough. The open air car was definitely a highlight. Just be mindful that it can be crazy hot and sunny in the summer, so plan accordingly. We saw three mountain goats!

LOVED IT !!!!!! We booked the Vista Dome ride in the AM, and as the train moved slowly, the views gave such an overwhelming feeling of tranquility. Service, staff, and atmosphere were good. It's a bit pricey for the quality of the food, so if you can eat before going. Overall one of a kind experience.

The purchasing of tickets was easy enough but the process of actually getting your tickets and boarding needs streamlined. But once on the train everything is smooth and enjoyable!! Great scenery!! Absolutely beautiful! The staff on board were pleasant and happy to assist. Would highly recommend!
