Zion National Park Angels Landing Summit Adventure

An absolutely strenuous hike up from the Scout Lookout up to the top of Angels Landing. The stunning view is worth the effort. There is a permit required for the last section of the trail between Scout Lookout and Angels Landing. Tickets are checked by NPS Park Rangers. I enjoyed this hike despite the crowds.

Absolutely worth it! I've read many reviews that say this hike is very scary and dangerous, but in my opinion it is not. The handrail chains are at most places and where they aren't you don't need them. If you take adequate shoes and watch where you step you shouldn't have a problem. The view at the top is an amazing 360° panorama of the area. I personally had no problem with this hike, it took about an hour (just Angels landing). To note I am in good physical shape and am mildly scared of heights). Enjoy!

Great hike. The joke is not long but intense. The last part is not for the those afraid of heights but the view from the top is rewarding. If you go during the summer try to get a reservation to start the hike early in the morning to avoid the heat. Take plenty of water with you - they recommend 3 liters per person. Also get some salty snacks - they help you replenish you're electrolytes. Overall highly recommend hike.

Wow. Just wow. While the Angel's Landing hike is definitely not for the feint of heart, it provides a spectacular payoff at the end with a 360 degree view of the Zion canyon from the top of Angel's Landing. The first section of the hike to Scout Lookout is relatively easy, albeit a climb up the side of the canyon with tons of switchbacks. Once you reach the start of the Angel's Landing section, things start to get a bit more technical and hairy. There are chains that you hold onto while you shimmy and scale the cliffs, and it's hard to avoid the fact that it's possible to slip and fall off the sheer cliff faces to your death. My advice is that it's not actually as scary or as intense as it seems when you first view the hike - if you start early (to avoid having to pass lots of people on the chain section), bring lots of water, and take it at your own pace, it's doable! Really one of the best hikes I've ever done.

The permit system works beautifully. No more congestion on the trail, especially along the via ferrata parts. Everyone was very polite and patient and followed proper trail etiquette. This was a much more enjoyable experience than the one I had five years ago. With that being said, Angel's Landing never disappoints. Even though this was my third time, the views still took my breath away. Every second was heart-pounding and totally exhilarating!
