Maui Road to Hana Drive: Scenic Views & Waterfalls

A beautiful drive on the Road to Hana. Though you have the coastal views, one scary part of the journey are the narrow roads. You have to drive with caution as on coming traffic may not see you turning the sharp corners. Regardless, so much to explore and the locals were awesome on the stops we made. I recommend buying the Shocka Tour Guide through your car rental. It was $30 and well worth it!

Well we drive on most of the parts of, road to Hana. But sorry to say, we were not impressed at all. We thought infact it was a waste of time. As we have seen so much better cost line in California Big Sur/PH 1 cost USA, also costa rice too. And we were expecting so much as its has been hyped so much on the internet. We personally liked the drive wayyy better on west Maui then Riad to Hana. If someone told us this before we would have not wasted our whole day driving in less then good view roads and very twisted and turn road. Which is not fun at all.

The Road to Hana is one of the most scenic drives I’ve ever taken! From lush rainforests to stunning waterfalls, every turn offers a new breathtaking view. Make sure to stop at Twin Falls and Waiʻānapanapa State Park for some truly memorable experiences. The road is narrow and winding, so plan for plenty of stops to take in the scenery. Be sure to start early and pack snacks—it’s a long but worthwhile journey!

The road to Hannah is a lot of twisting and turning with the roads. If you get carsick, you might have a problem. All in all we did it pretty quickly actually we got up early and left Beach area near Lahaina at 6:30 so we were all the way through Hannah And home by 5:30. It was a long day, but there’s some beautiful waterfalls in there and some nice swimming holes as well.

This iconic drive is filled with many twists and turns, narrow bridges, and massive amounts of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see. As this beautiful drive started out I had prepared myself for an epic winding road dangling off of cliffs, and onto jagged rocks below. Obviously what we had experienced was much different. On a side note I would like to explain, my knowledge of Hana is from hearing stories of my dad driving the road to Hana before it was fully paved with signs everywhere in only 3 hours (it took me double that amount of time). The roads are all paved, yes they are narrow and one lane at times, but pretty smooth transitions. It is frustrating to ride behind the tourist riding their break the whole ride, but if you can get around them you are in for a peaceful drive. There are so many spots to stop at, and hidden spots that are worth fighting for a parking space, & getting out of your car to see. Overall the drive is beautiful and definitely worth the day of travel to see. Helpful hints: if there is a line of cars behind you and no one in front of you pull off and let them pass. When you stop to get out make sure you are not blocking the road. Some corners are tighter than others. If you made a mistake throw up a shocka to apologize. Honk your horn before turning on a one lane corner to warn cars on the other side. Have fun, be safe! Aloha.
