Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens, located on the windward side of Oahu in Kane’ohe, offers a unique escape into nature. Spanning over 400 acres, these gardens are set against the majestic Ko’olau mountains and feature a range of distinct botanical areas connected by a main road. Visitors can explore the six themed areas, each with its own parking lot, restrooms, and walking paths. The gardens also include a serene lake ideal for a relaxing stroll, and short trails that meander through lush vegetation. Open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily with free admission, this natural retreat provides an opportunity to experience Hawaii's rich plant life, enjoy scenic views, and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Absolutely beautiful and exquisite. Definitely recommend a visit. Can accommodate personal, small, or larger groups. Parking is available in gardens. Bypass Lot 1 and go directly to Lot 2 to avoid sitting in idle traffic. Upon entry to gardens, the ranger will notate your vehicle plate and ask about your residency. There may be a few vehicles ahead of you, but the line moves quickly, 3-5min max. The iconic drive through the gate will prompt you to get your camera out which honestly is fine, but keep moving. (You WILL get scolded.) You can also walk in, but no need. Personally have been a few times, and the grounds are consistently kept manicured. So much beauty to behold, regardless of how much time spent.

This is the best place in Oahu. Admission is free. This garden spans 400 acres and features tropical botanical collections from various regions. Lush landscapes, tranquil lakes and scenic Mountain Views make this place a must-visit. Incredible surroundings and very well maintained paths allow for an excellent nature stroll. Do visit the visitor center where forest rangers explain culture of Hawaii. There’s plenty of parking and parking is free. We spent more than half a day here.

If you’re in Oahu visiting, not feeling like going to the beach on one of the days or don’t have much energy for a crazy hike, this is the best place to go. Low effort, amazing views, and it’s free! Bring snacks because you would want to sit by the lake for a while to enjoy this place.

One of the most beautiful, serene, and mystical gardens I have ever been to. Perfect for wedding, anniversary, engagement, and family photos. And fun for the kiddos and family to enjoy. I believe you can fish the pond sometimes but didn’t try ourselves when we visited.

Wow this place was absolutely stunning there’s a wonderful drive around the botanical garden and we did a short hike to the lake as well. The best part is it’s completely free and such a hidden gem, make sure to come early as it closes at 4pm so you want to allow enough time to explore (at least 1hr). I’ve attached the map of the drive they also offer tent camping here which would be amazing to do at some point.
