Great Sand Dunes Sandboarding Excursion

VISIT the National Parks! We didn’t even know this existed in Colorado. Like I said in previous reviews, all the National Parks have their own uniqueness and Great Sand Dunes didn’t disappoint! There are picnic areas, lots of parking and a small gift shop with an explanation of the dunes. Get the National Park Pass if you plan on visiting more than one park in a year. Make sure you wear shoes, the sand gets hot. I didn’t make it all the way to the top but even where I stood I had a great view. Zoom in to some of my photos to see the people at the top. I believe you can rent sand sleds before you enter the park, which looked like a lot of fun. There are different trails you can do throughout the park that take you by the stream as well. All and all it is a must see! PS don’t forget to bring some water!

Wow what a spectacular park. We were not sure what to expect but Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve did not disappoint. These dunes and surrounding mountain ranges are nothing short of stunning. Hiking the dunes was the highlight and gives you a real feel for just how expansive the dunes are. We camped in the park at Pinon Flats Campground and our site was right next to the dunes and we were able to access them via a trail right from our campsite. The campgrounds were great and the visitor center was wonderful. The park is a bit off the beaten path but was well worth the visit. A must see for any national park enthusiast.

We really had a great family weekend. It was a fun challenge to climb the dunes. The river was dry (August/September) They have nice restrooms and water stations everywhere at the parking lot. They also have nice pull in picnic spots. And some hiking trails. The nature trail was a short trails with forest, a stream with bridges, and a lookout view of the dunes. It is open 24 hours. Star gazing at night is so amazing. It's a beautiful place.

This National Park is incredible—I wish I lived closer! The sand is breathtaking, especially as you get closer. My family and I had the most wonderful time. My daughter and I hiked to the top, only to discover even more sand and stunning views. It was amazing. Nature is so peaceful here. We rented sand sleds before entering the park, and I highly recommend it—you won't regret it! This is a must-visit destination. Bring the kids, but remember it gets very hot on the sand, so pack plenty of sunscreen and water. You won't be disappointed!

Very beautiful national park. I have seen sand dunes in other national park. But these dunes are very different, the green mountains are on the other use and dunes on one side. You will have to cross water to reach the dunes from the visitor center. The views are fantastic amazing it is a must experience feel. If you are driving from Texas to Colorado definitely worth stopping here, the drive also is fantastic while going here. Highly recommend very underrated national park but worth visiting. Very kid friendly place. Make sure to bring lot of water, hat it can get very sunny while hiking to the top of the dunes.
