Worth the Stop. Worth Going Back.
As part of our family vacation in Long Beach, we decided we were going to fully embrace being tourists and pick a few experiences we had never done before.
The gondola ride ended up being one of the best choices.
We booked the 6:00 p.m. time slot, and honestly, that felt perfect. Late enough in the day to relax and enjoy the evening, but still early enough that the kids could enjoy everything without being exhausted.
We went with family and friends, ordered the Italian dinner package, and just made an evening out of it.
Both gondoliers were excellent. Professional, friendly, and great with the entire group. One seemed to have all the history and information, while the other did most of the actual work getting us around the water—which became its own running joke. Either way, they made the experience easy and enjoyable.
The biggest surprise of the night?
The food.
Let’s be honest, sometimes when you order food as part of an attraction, your expectations are not exactly sky high. You expect something decent enough because you’re really paying for the experience.
That was not the case here.
The pizza was legitimately excellent. Not “good for a tourist activity” excellent. Just excellent. It came from a local pizzeria, and it absolutely showed. This was pizza I would happily order again even if there wasn’t a gondola involved.
The entire experience was relaxing, unique, and something everyone enjoyed—from the adults down to the kids.
Would I do it every time I visited Long Beach? Probably not.
Would I recommend it to someone visiting, especially with family or a group of friends?
Absolutely.
And honestly, if there were different routes or a slightly different experience available, I could easily see us booking again just to enjoy another evening on the water.
Sometimes tourist attractions are tourist attractions for a reason.
This one earned it.
