Just spent an amazingly relaxing weekend here in the off-grid yurt. Very cold nights (was 1 degree Sunday morning), but very warm and toasty inside the yurt with the propane stove. The staff are all AMAZING and the meals are phenomenal. The team was a bit shorthanded due to sickness, and handled everything with grace and incredible hospitality. We were treated like family - thank you all so much for such an incredible weekend. We will be back.
Restaurant service was terrible and slow. Made a reservation days in advance and was told that they were all full inside upon my arrival and that I made an outdoor reservation (I didn’t). We sat outside in our full jackets and the heater they had was spotty - turning off for long periods of time. Our reservation was for 10:45, seated at probably 10:55. Once we were seated the table next to us was able to order breakfast, however the waitress took about 15 min to get to us, and then said sorry you can’t order breakfast anymore after 11. The coffee was so weak it tasted like water. The $15 Bloody Mary was thrown together and missing half the items the menu said it had (including the bacon). The waitress said “sorry I’m just not here today”. Then plopped some bacon down on a plate. Didn’t get checked in on while we were eating at all, and had to work to flag down our bill. Oh, and no bathrooms here! Only a porta potty with no sink. So no plan to wash your hands before you eat. The place has a nice website, and it looks like a stunning property, but keep your expectations low
The staff was very warm and accommodating. Cottages were gorgeous. Their GM Brandon was on the floor, taking care of things personally with his team. We had a great stay. The only drawback was a sense of chaos at times. They may have been short staffed, but getting things done took some time. Like they didn't know about our brunch reservation from the day before. We also forgot a champagne bottle in the fridge and would have left it as a gift to the staff had they just acknowledged it, but they did not even call or email upon multiple reachouts. All in all, decent experience. Probably only return if they respond to our calls for help.
We took a lovely drive today from Pollock Pines to Wylder in Hope Valley to see the aspens and have lunch at their restaurant. The service and food was top rate, and the four of us had a wonderful time. We sat next to the wood stove, and enjoyed meeting other diners. Fun and friendly staff truly made this a memorable visit!
