Uncover the Secrets of Annie's Canyon Trail San Diego

Beautiful views and very cool slot canyon. Some narrow passage but manageable- I’m a big guy- 270 lbs 6’1” and I made it. Takes about an hour leisurely. Great photo ops. Highly recommend. Lots of families and dogs. Go early. Street parking. Again go early like 8 am- gets busy.

I came at 6:40 PM. Parking was very easy since the rush is over. There’s a small door opening next to the gate to walk through. Not sure if there’s a closing time. Keep walking and there’s signs that tells you it’s the Annie’s canyon trail. The trail was easier for me as I am smaller. It wasn’t cramped as I’ve heard from many people. I used my fingers to pull myself up though. Wear shoes that have a grip. It is very slippery if your shoes aren’t correct. Lots of sands and small bugs so be sure to use mosquito repellent. Watch where you’re going!! There’s spiders hanging off trees. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this trail!

Great trail to hike with loop through the monument. NOTE: Claustrophobic and/or wider bodied people should avoid the canyon portion of the trail. Parts get very narrow. Also keep in mind it is a one way loop, So turning around may not be an option!

This was an awesome hike. Definitely bring some good shoes with tread, theres slight climbing. I recommend some mosquito repellent. There were lots. Go in the morning to avoid the crowd and hot sun. We arrived around 6:40am and finished around 8. Beautiful views and such amazing formations. However, it's unfortunate to see so many carvings from losers who can't simply appreciate nature without destroying it. Always take water. At the beginning, there's a fork in the trail, take the "difficult" route to see the amazing formations this canyon has to offer.

One of the MOST beautiful short hikes I've ever been on! NOTE: PLEASE BE CAREFUL ON THE WAY BACK.... THERE ARE MANY MANY STEEP HILLS. UNDER THE SUN, THIS CAN VERY EASILY LEAD TO HEAT STROKE/OVER EXHAUSTION. WEAR SOMETHING LIGHT AND LOW CUT, BRING COLD WATER AND ICE PACKS, AND GO BEFORE 11AM!
