Race at COTA Karting: Austin's Top Go-Karting

This is a fantastic spot—a true banger of a karting track located right next to the Circuit of the Americas. If you’re looking for a thrill, their karts hit speeds of up to 55 mph, making for an adrenaline-filled experience that feels right at home next to an F1 venue. The operation is top-notch; the track is impeccably maintained, and the professional crew keeps everything running safely with active flag signaling throughout your race. For $39, you get a 10-minute session, and the post-race experience is seamless—you’ll receive a detailed email shortly after you pull into the pits with your average lap times, your personal best, and other performance metrics to track your progress. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a high-quality driving experience.

Went to the Peppermint Parkway Christmas experience. It was pretty cool lots of good light setups. All the staff was very nice and accommodating. My kid and a bunch of other kids got stuck on a ride for about 10 mins, which seemed to have spooked the staff, so they shut all the kiddie rides down for about 30 mins to double check all of them. There was go carts, zip lines, mini golf, and their new roller coaster the Circuit Breaker, which was amazing! All-in-all it was a great experience and I will definitely go back for the regular season!

Personally had a great time but I feel mileage may vary. Huge shoutout to Jonathan for briefing me with some info for the track and helping make my experience great. The track layout is an interesting design that is mostly flat out on the gas the entire time with the right driving while also being technical enough to create some delta and a very much exponential learning curve with a steep slope from good 60 second times to beyond that in the 56-57 range. The operation was very efficient with races starting exactly on time every time throughout the day, and the communication from staff over the PA was frankly easier to understand than the average muffled speaker system, so that made safety info easy to understand. Be aware that to experience the full driving experience you must possess a drivers license, but a consequence of this is that I had absolutely no incidents that impacted my driving through 5 sessions. The karts do feature remotely controlled throttle limiters for incidents, so I’m happy to report this never became an issue and was only used at the beginning and ends of the races. Credit where due, their operations were well oiled and I feel I could get a consistent experience every time over multiple visits, which is why I would definitely recommend this place to the public. For the more experienced racers to read… I managed to touch 57.300 for the best time of the month, but this was only in one specific kart. I presume that I got lucky in being able to have kart 2 for 3 sessions, but this kart both felt audibly, visibly, and noticeably faster than other karts I took during my visit. I couldn’t touch the 58s in a few other karts. The only reason I don’t detract is from my general luck but also because they keep an open pit to kart swaps with basically no questions asked. I appreciate this policy as it felt like an acknowledgement of the kart parody issues, but I’d rather them either take the stupid high profit margin they likely have with $39(!!) dollars per race flat rate (no bulk pricing makes this the most expensive karting track I’ve found with just 270cc karts and nothing special by a large margin) and used the money to perform deeper maintenance, or buy a new fleet of karts. A new set of RT10s would do wonders. These karts are also beat up plenty by the very poor track condition given this is a parking lot track. The fastest lines featured many giant bumps and potholes and non-level surfaces that didn’t inhibit fast driving too much provided you were willing to take a hell of a beating (see the two shorter videos attached). I have bruises on my legs from the frame flexing over bumps, my neck is a bit sore even with a brace, and don’t even think about touching the bottom part of my back. A more semi-permanent setup or surface would do wonders to help make the experience more enjoyable and less of a beating chamber.

Great track, smooth cars, plenty of attendants working to make everything go off without a hitch. Probably the best karts I've driven in a while with very little vibration. Was a lot of fun.

Awesome experience and great for groups looking for a thrilling outing full of adrenaline.
