My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our one hour swan boat ride. We bought tickets for a 7:30pm ride to ensure we’d get some photos of the boats with the LED lights across the pond. Even with advance reservations, we had to wait in line for 1/2 hour, which wasn’t that bad. The ride was pleasant, although the seating on the boats themselves is very hard plastic and not entirely comfortable (recommend bringing your own cushion for maximum comfort). It was super easy to peddle and navigate, and gives you quite a workout to circle the pond. I loved that you’re surrounded by 🦆 and 🐢. Overall, highly recommend for anyone who lives in the area or just visiting.
I've always seen the swan boats but figured they were pricey and I would have to wait in a long line. The day I went with my family we decided on a whim to go for a ride and we were not disappointed! The reservation process was easy (online) and we did it while in line. Once we got to the front it was our reserved time. With kids in the back and hubby and I pedaling it was a nice ride around the lake. All the staff were nice and helpful! We even had to make an emergency return to the dock, but staff were understanding. We were able to get back on and finish out our allotted time. The view from the lake is beautiful and we even got a little splash from the fountain in the middle to cool us off. Wonderful time. Would recommend.
Gorgeous views & stunning date idea! This is by far a MUST when around the Echo Park area. The boat ride wasn’t as scary as I thought. I found myself being more at ease once I was paddling on the boat. So, no need to be worried! Overall it was lovely seeing how clean and well maintained the park & lake are. Food vendors will be located on the sidewalks of the park & a stroll is also to be consider after the lovely boat ride.
My daughter decided that I needed some exercise so she suggested that we go to Echo Park Lake and ride a Swan boat. Pedal propulsion so definitely exercise. The swan boats have a great big swan head and a canopy over the seat area for shade. Depending on the time of day and the direction you are facing, the sun might still shine on you. Wear a hat and sunscreen. If there's a breeze, that's going to have a definite effect on the boat. The breeze will blow on the swan head and the canopy. On a nice day without too much wind, I recommend this boat ride.
These paddle boats are so much fun and the cost is totally within reason! The swans are very clean and large. Four people could easily fit on one. They allow dogs on the boats. Ours sat in the back seat and enjoyed the ride. The boats do have a covering for the sun which is great because it can get hot in the middle of the pond. Since the city clean up the park it’s great to see the wildlife and nature as well as the famous shot of downtown Los Angeles.
