Hike to the Black Star Canyon Falls

This is a great place to go during the spring or after it has recently rained. We did and it was sure night and day from visiting in the summer when everything is dry as a bone. If you have bad knees or don't like the climb, this isn't the hike for you. Make sure to bring water shoes, as you will eventually need to tres through water. Dogs are allowed, but unless you have an athletic dog that can jump HIGH, you will end up having to carry your fur animal up some steep rocks if you want to make it through the end. Either small dogs or XL dogs will do fine ! I had to lift my husky Shepard mix everywhere. Small children can do this hike fine, but if you have anyone who can't handle hughts, steep slopes, or inclines it's better if they stay behind.

The trail starts by taking you along Black Star Canyon Road for almost 3 miles before leaving the dirt road and entering the Black Star Creek bed toward the falls. The last portion of the hike requires some boulder hopping up the stream bed to reach Black Star Canyon Falls, so be sure you’re wearing the right shoes! This hike is best after heavy rain as the waterfall tends to be only a trickle during summer and fall. There is heavy poison oak in the area so proceed with caution.

At the beginning walking in the dirt for an hour or so but once you start walking in to the creek the experience is different well for me it was amazing being close to the nature and breathing fresh air and the sound of the running water makes me forget my problems and the experience of finding the trail going up makes it more exciting and once you reach the top you will appreciate how important nature in our life.

Beautiful waterfalls right now, is about 7 miles round trip the last mile is very hard you probably need some upper body strength get plenty water

After rain this becomes a true adventure. The waterfall at the end is spectacular! The creek gets wider and deeper and you have to jump from rock to rock to cross the water. There are two areas where ropes help you climb because it’s steep! Not for kids when it’s wet. In the summer the “trail” is dry and easier to conquer.
