Go bowling at LA's oldest Highland Park Bowl

A cute bowling alley with a dash of pool (billiards), bar, and a lot of tables, like a coffee shop. I'm told that it is a very old alley, which was modernized a little bit but still kept the old look and feel. Has 8 lanes, so be prepared to wait for hours before getting a chance to play. Overall, it is a very cute location with friendly staff. Good service, parking may be a problem, not advised for anxious bowling players who want to start playing asap.

Amazing venue. Was able to get a lane first thing on a Sunday. Food was delicious but the waitress that was taking care of us was probably one of the most unfriendly service staff I have encountered in years. Delivered drinks to the table, spilled a little beer and didn’t even look up from the floor to say sorry. Also saw her deliver menus to table by walking up, tossing them on the table and walking away. Another negative is we sat up on the side which asks you to order via QR code. If you are looking for points from your credit card or BILT, don’t do this. This is via a third party and they will not honor it even though you’re sitting in the same room eating the same food.

I love the retro vibe and the fact that the building is almost 100 years old. I highly recommend making reservations as the wait-list can be over an hour wait for a lane. Albeit I will say that making a regular reservation can be difficult. Took me a week, an email, 4 phone calls and a voice mail later to get through to someone (I had tried to leave them a message as advised when I booked through their website but I never heard back from them and forced me to try and keep calling them). It also costs $20 to make a reservation. There's a parking lot around back, but it gets full really quick. It was full when we got there that we ended up parking on the street (free on Sundays). I booked one hour each for two lanes for a Sunday afternoon and their hourly cost was $35 an hour between 12PM-4PM. Shoe rental was $5 each person, the total cost was about $135 for 6 people. For the experience and history vibes alone, it's worth coming here at least once, but just know, the lanes are kind of beat up and not polished properly that it doesn't have the smoothest ball run. The balls provided also aren't labeled by weight so you have to guesstimate which ball to use. You also can't input your own info for lane play, you have to let the front desk know and they'll input it for you.

Classic vintage location So much history and great vibes. Drinks were really good, coming back again to bowl this time.

What a cool spot. The lanes are a little beat up, and the ball selection is limited, but the atmosphere is fantastic and the food is great. Worth the wait.
