Very rewarding hike. No fee and free parking. The trail gradually goes up until you reach the top ridge overlooking the San Pasqual Valley. Excellent views. I recommend bringing trekking poles as there are some steep sections. Once you reach the spot with the two chairs attached to the big boulder, you can go a little further following the trail until you reach another viewpoint. This hike can be a little challenging but well worth it!

Hiked this trail in January on a beautiful 70 degree day. The fragrance of juniper and mint was invigorating following all the recent rain. Tons of mint bushes everywhere. Saw lots of quail and other birds. Hawks gliding above scanning for food sources.
Meandering switchbacks up the mountain. If you hike to the peak the elevation gain is 1000'.
Moderate difficulty, nothing technical. No toilet at trailhead.

Honestly. It is cool hike/trail.
But I am not a fan of walking in deserts lol.
Parking is limited (we used the south entrance) and walked up a bit. Cool pictures to take for background and sunset if you are out there at that time.
