Escape in a Campervan Rental

Rented a van for a weeks trip through the national parks. Van was equipped with what we needed, super spacious, had ample storage, and drove really well. When we were checking in my flight was delayed and we weren’t going to arrive until 30 minutes past close. Jamie stayed late to help us out and ensure we could add a second driver. Thank you Jamie!! Great overall experience. Would recommend.

The two bad things first and then all the good! The pillows in the sheet kit we rented were just terrible. Our necks were really aching all day! Luckily our amazing staff member Christie refunded us for those. Secondly, they don't let you choose which van you can bring so it's really a gamble if you're going to get one of the super cute advertised designs or a super ugly one. Ours even had a panel blacked out which felt so janky and ugly (see attached photo). But now THE GOOD: These vans are super sturdy and well maintained! We had absolutely no issues driving it around and had a great trip. We took it on windy mountain roads, cliffs, highways, dirt etc and always felt very safe. It holds a ton of gas and everyone was very comfortable the whole trip. Our staff member Christie that helped us was also exceptionally good she had a great attitude and was very professional. I would rent a van here again but next time I'm bringing my own sheets and pillows and also coming in with lower expectations about the attractiveness of our van. The pictures make every van look so cute but that's just not the case. I wish we could have picked!

We loved our van! For 20 days, it carried us safely over 7,000 kilometers — through deserts, across mountains, and down countless highways. It was an unforgettable road trip. If we could change one thing, we’d probably go for a van with built-in air conditioning for the nights — it did get pretty warm at times. Also, it’s important to understand that you really get exactly what you book. We chose a Ford E150 — an old but very cool vehicle and definitely a head-turner! Just keep in mind: it’s a used van, so don’t expect it to be spotless or silent. There were a few stains on the upholstery and some odd noises while steering — nothing major, but good to know in advance.

We rented a Mavericks campervan for 16 days, starting in San Francisco and returning it in Los Angeles. After reading some negative reviews about the reliability of Mavericks, I was a bit concerned—especially since ours had nearly 390,000 miles on it. But we drove over 3,100 miles without a single issue. The van was surprisingly comfortable and very convenient. The kitchen setup and fridge were super handy and worked perfectly throughout the trip. For the price, it’s a no-brainer. We had an amazing trip, and the van played a big part in it.

I absolutely loved my experience with Escape Campervans. As a solo traveler I rented Maverick for 19 days. It was a perfect fit. The company is straight forward and has a lot of info on campervan traveling and national parks on their website. I used iOverlander app to find spots for sleeping in a van. No matter where I went there were always good options outside of towns. I've never had to book a hotel. You can always find showers/rivers/lakes and laundromats are almost in every town. People reacted positively about the van paint. On less frequent roads to dispersed camping grounds, everyone just assumed I am a cool guy in a cool van - one of them. As a european visitor to US, this made me feel nice, like I belong here. When I returned my van in Phoenix I learned that they are closing in a lot of places, because of recent general tourism drop in the US. I really wish it to get better soon and I wish Escape Campervans to grow into even larger company in the future. It would be great to have you guys all around the world!
