I lived in California for more than 40 years and somehow never discovered Crystal Cove until recently. A friend took me there, and I was pleasantly surprised by this beautiful and unique location.
Visitors park in the main parking area and take a shuttle down to the cove, where you’ll find the historic beachfront bungalows and the Beachcomber restaurant. I was told the cottages date back to the 1930s, and they still retain their vintage charm today. The bungalows sit right along the beach, creating a setting that feels like stepping back in time.
I had a meal at the Beachcomber restaurant, and the food was very good. One of the best parts of the experience is the incredible ocean view. Sitting right on the beach, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the water while you dine.
If you visit, be prepared to do a little walking and wear comfortable shoes. The combination of history, ocean views, beachfront cottages, and good food makes Crystal Cove Beach a truly special destination that I wish I had discovered years ago.
